Nagoya City University Hospital
Mizuho-ku, Nagoya-shi
Established in 1931, we have a history of over 90 years and serve as an advanced acute care hospital with 800 beds. In 2026, we plan to open the Emergency and Disaster Medical Center, one of the largest of its kind in Japan, in preparation for large-scale disasters. As a core medical institution in the region, we provide advanced, safe, and open medical care as well as train medical professionals with a high level of expertise and ethics.

Features of the hospital
As an advanced acute care hospital, we provide highly advanced and cutting-edge medical care.
We have introduced two "da Vinci" units and one “hinotoriTM" unit—these are surgical-assist robots that allow for more precise execution of advanced minimally invasive surgeries—and have performed robot-assisted surgeries in several departments to date. Since these surgeries involve small incisions, which result in reduced pain and bleeding, they allow patients to be discharged from the hospital and return to society earlier.
As one of our unique features, we also have experience in autologous cultured epidermal transplantation (regenerative medicine) for vitiligo vulgaris.
Our system and efforts to accept patients by medical tourism
As part of our efforts to develop a system and environment for accepting international patients, we have been accredited by the Japan Medical Service Accreditation for International Patients (JMIP). If patients of foreign nationality who are not covered by Japanese public medical insurance wish to receive medical care at our hospital, we coordinate their acceptance through an external medical coordination company to ensure safe medical examinations and treatment, as well as the smooth handling of various procedures, such as those related to entry into and departure from Japan.
To ensure that international patients can receive medical care with peace of mind, we have introduced translation tablets, expanded the availability of notices posted in foreign languages, and provided informed consent documents and other materials in multiple languages.
